Medinh Fogón is a recipe journal. You can read every page of this site without creating an account, without handing over your name, and without filling in a single form. This policy explains the small amount of information that does move around when you visit, most of it tied to cookies and advertising, and what say you have over it.

Advertising on this site

We may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its certified partners use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to show ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites. This is how a recipe site stays free to read.

Cookies, plainly explained

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. On Medinh Fogón, cookies fall into two groups: those set by advertising partners as described above, and those tied to simple site analytics. None of our cookies contain your name, your email or anything you typed.

Every modern browser lets you view, restrict or delete cookies from its settings. The site keeps working with cookies switched off; ads simply become less relevant and our statistics less accurate.

What we can see about visits

Like nearly every website, our servers and analytics tools record technical details of each visit: the pages viewed, the approximate region a visit comes from, the browser and device type, and the site that referred you here. These figures reach us in aggregate. We look at them to learn, for example, that the salmorejo recipe is read more on hot weekends. We do not use them to identify individual readers.

When you write to us

If you contact us with a question or a correction, we receive your email address and whatever you chose to write. We use that information solely to reply, we keep the exchange only as long as a normal correspondence file requires, and we never add your address to any list or share it with advertisers.

What we never do

• We do not sell, rent or trade reader information to anyone.
• We do not run any payment system, so no financial data ever touches this site.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights of access, correction and deletion over personal information a site holds about you. Since the only personal information we ever hold is correspondence you sent us yourself, exercising these rights is simple: write to us and ask, and we will confirm what we have, correct it or erase it.

Security and retention

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Correspondence is stored on ordinary, access controlled email accounts and deleted when it is no longer needed. Aggregate statistics carry no personal identifiers, so there is nothing in them to protect or erase on your behalf.

This site is published from South America and can be read anywhere. By using it, you understand that the technical data described above may be processed in the country where our service providers operate, under safeguards those providers publish.
